It is a delicious snack recipe. Plantain chips are made from green Plantain.  If you are unable to find green (unripe) plantains, use very green bananas instead. Plantains are members of the banana family, but starchier and savory in taste. Unlike bananas, they aren’t sweet and are lower in sugar. These air-fried plantain chips are a healthy, homemade snack for when you’re craving something salty and crunchy.

Baked Plantain Chips/ Banana Chips


  • 3 Raw plantains (unripe bananas)

  • 1 tablespoon Avocado oil (any oil of your choice)

  • 2 teaspoon Salt

  • 2 teaspoon Turmeric

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice (This will help keep them from turning dark and helps with the flavoring of plantains).

  • Mandolin Slicer.


  • Preheat air fryer to 350F.
  • Cut the ends of the plantains.
  • Cut vertically (lengthwise) through the skin with a knife. Soak the plantains in hot water for few minutes. Peel the plantain after removing from the hot water. This makes the peeling of plantain extremely easy.
  • Using the mandolin slicer or very carefully cut it with a knife. (These plantains turn out best when they are sliced thinly and evenly.
  • Soaked the sliced plantains for 30 minutes in cold water (this helps to remove excess starch from the plantains which helps with the crispness).
  • While soaked add 1 teaspoon salt and turmeric. (This will enhance the flavor of the chips).
  • Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. (This will help keep them from turning dark and helps with the flavoring of plantains).
  • Remove sliced plantain from the water and lay it on the paper towel to pat-dry.
  • Once completely dried add 1 tablespoon oil, add 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon turmeric and 1 teaspoon black pepper.
  • Now open the air fryer. Lay the slices of plantains in the air-fryer basket. Air-fry them for 350 Fahrenheit for approximately 17 minutes. Flip the plantain chips once halfway during cooking.
  • Once they are crispy, take them out.
